Independent Metallurgical Operations (IMO) is proud to support Tempest Minerals Ltd in delivering a strong first round of magnetite metallurgical testwork at the emerging Remorse Iron Deposit in Western Australia.
Led by Dr Andrew Dowling FAusIMM, Principal Metallurgist at IMO, the program was conducted at the SGS Metallurgy laboratory in Welshpool and designed to evaluate iron upgrade potential, recovery efficiency, and contaminant levels across early composite samples.
Key Metallurgical Results – Composite #1:
- Head Assay Grade: 32.29% Fe
- Davis Tube Recovery (DTR): Up to 68.8% Fe in concentrate at 25μm grind
- Low impurity profile: Including 3.82% SiO₂, 0.12% Al₂O₃, 0.036% Mn, and 0.031% P
- Mineralogical consistency across the sample supports future scale-up
These results provide an early indication of the project’s viability for high-grade magnetite concentrate production, with favourable iron enrichment and minimal deleterious elements — critical criteria for downstream processing and customer specification.
The sample was collected from the inaugural 2024 RC drill program and comprised mineralised magnetite zones between 93 and 102 metres downhole. Testing included stage grinding, Davis Tube Recovery at multiple grind sizes, and full elemental analysis to inform early-stage ore characterisation.
“These early results confirm strong potential for producing high-grade iron concentrate from Remorse,” said Dr Dowling. “With low levels of silica, alumina and other penalty elements, this deposit offers a promising foundation for future iron ore development.”
Further composite samples from Remorse are already in progress, with IMO continuing to lead the testing and optimisation program on behalf of Tempest Minerals.
Supporting Strategic Development in Western Australia
The Remorse Deposit is part of the broader Yalgoo Project, located in a highly prospective area of WA’s Mid-West region. These results will feed into upcoming studies, helping to define iron ore resource models, support feasibility assessments, and identify downstream processing opportunities.
At IMO, we specialise in unlocking value through independent metallurgical consulting and laboratory testwork, supporting miners and developers across the full project lifecycle — from early-stage scoping through to commercial production readiness.
